HISD SFTP Gateway

Privacy Policy

Houston Independent School District provides HISD SFTP as an invitation-controlled file-transfer service for HISD personnel and external vendors.

Effective September 1, 2026Applies to all Gateway accounts
01

Identity and authorized access

When you use Google sign-in, HISD SFTP uses Google only to authenticate your identity. It requests the basic OpenID Connect scopes openid, email, and profile. The identity information received includes your Google account identifier and email address, and basic profile information Google provides, such as your name and profile picture.

The service uses this information to authenticate you and determine whether your identity is authorized for an assigned HISD file exchange. Signing in with Google does not itself grant access. SFTP access remains invitation-controlled and limited to assigned exchanges.

02

Google access boundaries

HISD SFTP does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, Google Workspace directory data, domain-wide delegation, or other Google service data beyond the basic identity information described above.

03

Service records and governing agreements

The gateway maintains account and identity-link records and exchange assignments to support authorized access. File handling and applicable data-handling obligations remain governed by existing HISD agreements, vendor agreements, and Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), where applicable. This service notice does not replace or expand those agreements.
